Booms, Gaffs, Sheer Poles & Rails
Here is Shep, the "willing to try anything once" guy! We set him up with a grinder and a cut off disk to remove the nuts that were rusted on to the bolts holding on the rails.
After the rails were removed the stanchion tops (near Blayde's shoulder), needed to be grinded, and reconditioned with all the numerous layers of paint. Tamer braves the paint brush hairs, to help me out.
The new and improved rails treated with Boiled Linseed Oil!! Free of mildew, splinters and gray and also stanchion caps free of rust!!
The wood that the shrouds go through, and that serves a tie off point for the lines is called a Sheer Pole. These were also removed by Raoul and sanded and linseed oiled to perfection.
