Surfin' USA... Carlsbad (November 5th - 11th)
OK, so "surfing" might be a bit of an overstatement, as anyone watching me might conclude - but I'm having a lot of fun anyway. Ive been learning the basics, sometimes even getting a little ride now and then. Shannon Van De Vanter is my lovely surfing mentor, thank you Shannon for your tips and the use of your longboard. We would also like to say Thank You so very much for your hospitality during our stay! We had an amazing time :-)
Sunset with Valin and and I in the surf...
Another beautiful, serene, ocean sunset.... While I sat and watched the onset and conclusion of this sunset, with waves crashing on the beach, I came to the conclusion that I will never tire of this sight!!
California Dreamin'
My first time to the beach with Shannon and the kids turned out to be chilly and cloudy, but there was still a ton of fun to be had. The boys, while exploring inside of these rocks, found an "abandoned" backpack... On a later exploration, in a little different area, they discovered more personal items, even a radio!! By this time, one of Shannon's friends had stopped by, and she politely informed us that a lot of homeless people lived amongst the rocks :-) The boys were really incensed that they could not keep their loot!!
Although it was a cloudy, chilly day, it was a perfect day to get in some kite practice. Shannon really enjoyed the challenge, as well as a by stander who brought to the table a skimming board. This added to the excitement for all!!
ADORATION!!!!
