Sedona, Arizona
In many ways, the pictures from Sedona speak for themselves.... For me, this was one of the most breathtaking location so far on our trip. You drive north out of Phoenix on I-17, then you turn off on 179 about 40 miles south of Flagstaff. As the road winds and turns, the scenery remains quite the same...Then, you are suddenly met with the beauty in the following 4 pictures:
The day that we fixed the van, I took the boys on a little side trip up into Red Rock State Park. The main difference in the scenery is less desert and more forest like terrain. We pulled off to the side of the road, and hiked to the "top" of a red rock formation.
The prickly pears here, grow much like the fireweed in Alaska, beautiful - But everywhere :-)
This is a far cry from Spruce and Birch!! For those of you complaining about never seeing any pictures of me, I am starting to emerge from the shadows :-)
Wow, we were sooooo far up. I must mention that the boys had just finished working on the van and were covered with grease, so for some of the pictures I had them put their shirts on backwards... As you can see, we did not switch back around for this one...

There is such an amazing contrast when viewing the red rock with the bright blue sky in the background.
